In an interview by PBS Frontline and Michael Wiser about Russia and President Vladimir Putin in particular, with the US top diplomate John Bolton, he told Wiser that West’s conflict with China and Russia problably will not end this century.
Bolton, who is a top US politician since many years, a Republican senator and a former national security advicer to former President Donald Trump’s and his administration. Known for his hardline attitude in the US foreign politics, as one of the so called “neocon warmonger hawks”, willing to play hardball in wars like Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, expressed his point of view on how to deal with Russia and Putin in the interview.
When Bolton was asked if the confict in Ukraine is in fact between the US and Russia, and not so much between Russia and Ukraine, like Putin has claimed, Bolton responded that this is just something that Putin and the majority of the Russian population thinks, “and really has nothing to do with the United States”, said Bolton.
But in the same time Bolton says that there is in fact a conflict – not just between West and Russia, but with both Russia and China as a whole entity.
“I think we’re in a conflict with Russia and China as an entente. And I don’t think you can separate the two”, adding that the US and West’s conflict and alleged “proxy war” with Russia over Ukraine is a “piece of a much bigger picture” according to Bolton, with regards to the situation in the Pacific’s, regarding Chinas territorial claims over Taiwan.
When Bolton is asked how all of this will end, regarding the US and West’s relations to China and Russia, he responded by saying “we’re at the opening stage of a very, very long conflict, probably for the rest of this century”.
